The first thing they do is separate you from your bags with no explanation about how you might get them back. We have visited Mexico and the Riviera Maya for the last 15 years (apart from last year due to Covid) and have stayed in many hotels for Christmas & New Year and during the summer break also, so i think i can give an honest review on this hotel.Check-in,wasnt too bad took about 30mins.Room,Absolutely Terrible, smelled very damp, mould was showing through the touched up paint work that was trying to hide dark patches of damp and mould, de-humidifier running 24/7 keeping you awake most nights, humidifier needed emptying 4 times with-in a 24hr period so that will give you an idea on how damp and mouldy the rooms are.Food / RestaurantsNot the best, Ive had a lot better, mostly cold food even when you are 1st in the restaurant, waiting time for food in other restaurants on site could up to an hour then once received the food was not nice at all, we booked the privilege package and that was not worth the money, privilege restaurant was terrible, long waits for waiter, food not what you ordered when it finally arrived, gave up on that restaurant after a couple of days and then used Buffet Restaurant.COVID Safe (NOT)There were a lot of people walking around the reception area without face masks on at all, a lot of people that did wear face masks in Reception or Restaurants only had them covering their mouths only, some just wore them around their chin.I did not witness any staff member requesting people to wear their masks correctly during my 2 week stay SUMMARYOur room was damp and mouldy, it was a Health Hazard, tried to contact our TUI Rep from 23/12 until 27/12, Rep was off sick and nobody available to speak too for help, sent TUI a number of messages and emails requesting urgent help with this "Hazardous to Health" Room and im still awaiting a response to my emails as of todays date 09/01/22, I ended up dealing with the hotel assistant manager myself "OSCAR" who was very UNHELPFUL and offered me a room in the same block with same health issues, I ended up taking a video of my room showing all the damp and Mould issues using a dry brown paper bag to show up the damp on bag when i wiped it down the wall in our room, all our clothes in the wardrobes were damp and starting to smell, I then tried to contact the Direrector General of this hotel "Pilar Gomez" on linkedin and sent her a message, I also sent TUI another email detailing my findings as a H&S Advisor and pointed out the dangers of staying in this mouldy room, once i gathered all this information i showed Oscar the assistant manager at the resort and i informed him of my intensions to leave the hotel and request a flight home by TUI, He then got VERY RUDE and unhelpful and demanded i speak to my own TUI Rep who was not available, I did try and check into another hotel at this stage but unfortunately all other hotels were fully booked up!!!
